What Does Gospel Music Have To Do With Black History

Gospel Music was created as a coping mechanism to deal with the circumstances the slaves found themselves in. They used their ability to sing and hum as a way of sending messages to one another and to confuse their masters.

In honor of celebrating Black History the Old Dillard Foundation will present two music videos to celebrate past while creating the present and building the future.

The first video will be a gospel concert featuring Ryneill Atkins and the Traveling QC’s will air February 28th at 7pm on www.facebook/odfhouse. Ryneill Atkins and the Traveling QC’s  are a quartet group out of South Florida will be performing songs that will have your heart jumping, your hands clapping and your feet stomping.

The 2^nd video is a portion of a musical called “Hallelujah” this portion of the musical will highlight some of the scenes from the musical, The Drumline, It Ain’t So Amazing, Harriet still speaks and the Celebration of Freedom and will air on February 27 at 7pm on www.facebook/odfhouse  The portions that you will see will have you own the edge of your seats leaving you hungry and thirsty wanting more and questioning why but most of all it will leave you at peace with the understanding that the fight for freedom must continue.
