{Editors’ Note: This is very dangerous, do not attempt this your self; Don’t Do Drugs}

This week’s adventure was exploring the Dames Cave area located in the Withlacoochee State Forest of Citrus County. This area is where Florida’s limestone backbone rises to the surface and the recharge side of the aquifer can be accessed by those daring or dumb enough to try.

This type of exploring requires highly specialized equipment; I have found that using a ski rope, flashlight and duct tape is not a formula for success. To see what it’s like view the pictures.

This week’s adventure was Razorback mountain bike park north of Ocala. It costs $5.00 to enter and you have to sign a liability waver. This is 10 miles of expert level trails good for training pro racers and those especially keen on being hurt.

The attached photos are mostly from the adjacent canyon lands that also provide boundless opportunity for recreational injury. Photograph comments:

There are times when you must seek adventure and there are times when it parks in your back yard and won’t go away.

That was indeed the case this weekend when the neighbors insisted that I cease and desist all yardwork and go wakeboarding. It was a beautiful day on lake for wakeboarding, a sport that much like surfing is judged more on personal style than content. To see what it’s like click the “flip cam”.

This week’s adventure was a solo mountain bike ride in Wekiva Springs state park.

Going solo is a great experience and is also good when your friends “don’t want to go on another one of those stupid adventure things”.

Wekiwa Springs State Park comprises approximately 8,000 acres of wild scenery that offers an opportunity to see how areas of central Florida looked when the Timucuan Indians speared fish in the spring-fed creeks and stalked the uplands.

This week’s Adventure was a kayaking trip up the Weeki Wachee river. Weeki Wachee is a first magnitude spring discharging over 64 million gallons of crystal-clear water a day.

The scenery and wildlife are incredible, everything that lives in Florida can be seen here including Manatees. I also found a rope swing and for a few brief moments my carefree youth was returned to me, although I seem to remember being somewhat better at it when I was a kid.
