Mutt Cutts Van, Doc’s DeLorean At Celebration Exotic Car Festival

[Celebration, FL] It has been billed as “One of the 5 Best Exotic Car Shows in the World,” and by the look of the what’s in-store for those who attend, I would have to agree.

The upcoming 9th annual Celebration Exotic Car Festival, taking place in Daytona and in Celebration (near Walt Disney World) April 12-15, will feature 250 exotics, crazy-cool vehicles made famous in the movies and television, big-time celebrities, food by top chefs and a lakeside concert.

The massive event, benefiting children’s charities, is equal parts gear-head revival, nerd convention and foodie feeding.

The first two days (April 13 & 13) are for people who actually own exotic cars – those lucky folks can experience driving their super-machines on the track at the Daytona International Speedway. On the evening of Friday, April 13 – yes, Friday the 13th!! – things move back to Celebration for an evening BBQ-concert-party thing.

Saturday, April 14, is the big show, dubbed the “Concours of Exotic Cars,” and it is free to attend (be forewarned if you are crowd-phobic, some 40,00 attended last year’s event). This celebration of automotive excellence is for the masses who want to check out all of the amazing vehicles, catch some “star cars,” and hang-out with Hollywood celebs.

Well, maybe not hang-out, more like gawk, take photos and comment on how old they actually look in person.

Celebrities scheduled to appear at the Celebration Exotic Car Festival on April 14: Luke Wilson (Old School, Idiocracy), Carl Weathers (Rocky, Happy Gilmore), Christopher McDonald (Happy Gilmore, Dirty Work), Patrick Warburton (Rules of Engagement, Family Guy), Lea Thompson (Back to the Future movies, Caroline In The City) and Pretty In Pink director Howie Deutch.

A couple of guys from the TV show Survivor will also be there … parking the cars, no doubt.

What “star cars” will be at the 2012 Celebration Exotic Car Festival you ask? The original “Mutt Cutts” van and Lamborghini from Dumb & Dumber, the Back to the Future DeLorean, The Cannonball Run Lamborghini, the 1966 Batmobile, the Star Wars Landspeeder, the Plymouth Fury from the Stephen King film Christine, Speed Racer‘s Mach V, The Flintstones car and Herbie the Love Bug.

There’s also a Shooter McGavin Celebrity Golf Tournament, featuring two of the stars of the film Happy Gilmore (perhaps the second-best golf comedy behind Caddyshack). In the landmark 1996 Adam Sandler film, show attendee Christopher McDonald plays Shooter McGavin, while attendee Carl Weathers plays Happy’s mentor Chubbs.

On Sunday, April 15, the whole thing culminates in a road rally that happens between breakfast and lunch.

“Drive your exotic car as it was meant to be driven, with a police escort to get us on our way,” boasts the website.

You’ll have to check out the website for details on that one.

Sounds like an awesome day – just the Shooter McGavin golf tournament alone would make it an event worth going to
