[Jacksonville, FL] Not only did a North Florida mother foster an environment that allowed her twelve-year-old son beat to death her two-year old son, but she cruised the internet for four hours after discovering that the two-year-old lay unconscious from the savage beating.
Recent documents released in this bizarre case paint an awful picture of Biannela Marie Susana, 25, the Jacksonville mother who was more concerned about looking up celebrities and doing some online banking than caring for her child.
Now, Susana is charged with culpable negligence and aggravated manslaughter and her twelve-year-old – whose name Sunshine Slate will not publish because he is a minor – is facing a first-degree murder rap.
The incident took place March 15 and the boy died two days later after clinging to life in an intensive care unit, but the tragic details are now emerging.
Tragic indeed. Susana wasn’t even home at the time of the beating and was told by the twelve-year-old upon discovery that he “fell off the bed.” Instead of immediately calling 9-1-1, she re-dressed the victim, cleaned him off and applied ice to his head, according to official documents.
The worst mom in the world
She then looked up her son’s condition on the internet.
While the two-year-old lay unconscious with a skull fracture, a subdural hemorrhage, subdural hematoma and a bruised left eye and nose, Susana saw fit to Google “when someone gets knocked out” and spent about 20 minutes researching the topic.
Soon, however, she was on to more important things like downloading Yomo’s My Destiny reggaeton album off a popular torrent site.
Approximately four hours later, Susana looked up St. Luke’s Hospital, where the boy was first admitted, driven to the hospital not by ambulance, but by Susana herself. The boy was later taken to Shands Jacksonville Medical Center, where he eventually died.
Killed by his own brother and left to die by his mother.
Susana sought out Yomo’s My Destiny
In June, the twelve-year-old was indicted by a Duval County grand jury for killing his brother using “blunt force trauma.” When initially confronted, he lied about what happened.
This was the second time the twelve-year-old had harmed his brother: he also had broken his leg in January while “wrestling.” In that case, the Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF) investigated and Susana lied to cover-up what had happened and that she was at home at the time of the incident.
She wasn’t at home that time either, according to police reports and court documents.
A medical examiner was quoted by investigators as saying that if the deceased two-year-old had received immediate medical care, he might not have died from his injuries.
Another curious aspect of this case is that the twelve-year-old is being tried as an adult. Under Florida law, because the boy was indicted by a grand jury, he must be treated as an adult in all respects, including where he is jailed.
