[Tallahassee, FL] After two key staffers leave, Mike Haridopolos calls it quits on his bid for U.S. senator. The state Senate President had a great first quarter of this year and raised $2.5 million, but his fundraising took a dramatic shift to less than a million for the second quarter.
“I truly believed I could handle both jobs … but I was wrong … And now I am determined to make it right.”
Although Haridopolos stated that he could not do two jobs as the reason for dropping out, other issues have crept up that would make his campaign a little more difficult.
A story from the Miami Herald informs us about Mike keeping one of his campaign staff in a government job until the campaign rolled around. Also, there was the $152,000 Brevard Community College book deal that brought back an estimated $487.90. Or his financial disclosure fiasco where he forgot to report about a half million dollars of income and assets.
This announcement now leaves Adam Hasner and former U.S. Senator George LeMieux as the presumed front runners for the republican nomination.
