[Palm Beach Gardens, FL] A South Florida congressman is being investigated amid allegations that he sexually harassed a member of his staff, according to a report in The Wall Street Journal. The House Office of Congressional Ethics is investigating U.S. Rep. Alcee Hastings, D-Fla.
According to a lawsuit filed in March by the conservative watchdog group Judicial Watch, a woman claims Hastings made unwanted sexual advances and sexually explicit remarks and touched her inappropriately several times.
The woman says it started after he hired her to work in Austria for a committee he chaired in 2008 through February 2010. She says Hastings pressured her to buy him gifts and donate to his campaign.
